In the 2022 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule (Final Rule), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a new definition for physician and non-physician Split/Shared visits in the facility setting, updated critical care policies and expanded the approvals for telemedicine during the Public Health Emergency (PHE). A summary of these and other changes for 2022 is provided in the attached link. You should review these changes with your providers, coders and billing service. Further changes in the Split/Shared visits definition will be made for 2023.
